The Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic is advising citizens of a planned reduction in services that will affect workplaces throughout Slovakia. On Monday 19 January 2026 services will not be available in key departments for technical reasons. All existing appointments have been moved to 21 January 2026 with the original time, the same PIN code that was sent to you also remains valid. Scope of shutdown
The outage affects all sites within the Slovak Republic, namely:
Document departments (issuing ID cards, passports, driving licences).
Traffic inspectorates (vehicle registration and related operations).
Foreign Police Departments PZ.
Reason for interruption of services
The reason for this restriction is planned technical intervention in the communication infrastructure Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic. Due to the complexity and nature of the work, it is not possible to carry out this intervention during normal operation without a complete shutdown of the systems.
Important Notice: Citizens who have made an online booking for this appointment will be sent a cancellation notice. They will be able to use the next available dates in the following days to process their requests.
Recommendations to the public
Plan ahead: If you need to deal with urgent matters, we recommend that you visit the offices by Friday 16 January or subsequently from Tuesday 20 January onwards.
Electronic services: Some electronic services of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic linked to the affected infrastructure may also be unavailable during the technical intervention.
