In recent months, our office has encountered <strong data-start=\"449\" data-end=\"497\">a sharp increase in cancellations of residence permits<\/strong>that foreigners don't even know about. <strong data-start=\"531\" data-end=\"579\">This is followed by administrative expulsion.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"581\" data-end=\"988\">These are cases where applicants state <strong data-start=\"620\" data-end=\"670\">false, non-existent or inappropriate addresses<\/strong>. This is often the case <strong data-start=\"690\" data-end=\"716\">through no fault of their own<\/strong>but <strong data-start=\"722\" data-end=\"782\">the unprofessionalism and irresponsible behaviour of intermediaries<\/strong>who trade in human destinies and provide accommodation that <strong data-start=\"848\" data-end=\"877\">does not meet the legal conditions<\/strong>. <strong data-start=\"879\" data-end=\"988\">The consequences can be severe - often leading to revocation of the residence granted and administrative expulsion.<\/strong><\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"990\" data-end=\"993\" \/><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1034\"><strong data-start=\"999\" data-end=\"1034\">Accommodation is not just a formality<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1036\" data-end=\"1116\">The law clearly states that <strong data-start=\"1065\" data-end=\"1115\">accommodation submitted as part of the application for residence<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1154\"><strong data-start=\"1120\" data-end=\"1151\">must be real, habitable<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1272\"><strong data-start=\"1157\" data-end=\"1205\">it must meet hygiene and technical standards<\/strong>, thus <strong data-start=\"1212\" data-end=\"1269\">it cannot be a space that is not intended for living<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"1275\" data-end=\"1385\"><strong data-start=\"1275\" data-end=\"1334\">the capacity of the property must not be exceeded<\/strong> (e.g. <strong data-start=\"1342\" data-end=\"1381\">if 10 people live in a one-room flat<\/strong>),<\/li><li data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1477\"><strong data-start=\"1388\" data-end=\"1477\">it must be a house, flat, boarding house or other legally recognised accommodation.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1479\" data-end=\"1684\">In addition to meeting these criteria, it is important that the property is <strong data-start=\"1545\" data-end=\"1605\">actually accessible and occupied by the person applying for the residence<\/strong>. It is not permissible for this to be a \"paper\" accommodation without real housing.<\/p><hr class=\"\" data-start=\"1686\" data-end=\"1689\" \/><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"1691\" data-end=\"1737\"><strong data-start=\"1695\" data-end=\"1737\">The address also serves as a delivery address<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"1739\" data-end=\"2067\">A very important aspect is that <strong data-start=\"1771\" data-end=\"1821\">this address also serves as a correspondence address<\/strong> for communication with the immigration police and other authorities. <strong data-start=\"1877\" data-end=\"1934\">The foreigner is obliged to collect mail at this address<\/strong> - including <strong data-start=\"1945\" data-end=\"2001\">decisions to grant, extend or revoke residence<\/strong>. The police can also at any time <strong data-start=\"2035\" data-end=\"2067\">carry out an accommodation check.<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2069\" data-end=\"2449\">If the applicant <strong data-start=\"2084\" data-end=\"2107\">does not take delivery<\/strong>, the latter after the expiry of the retention period <strong data-start=\"2144\" data-end=\"2191\">shall be deemed to have been served by the so-called fiction of service<\/strong>. In other words - <strong data-start=\"2209\" data-end=\"2256\">the office shall decide as if it had received the consignment<\/strong>even though he never actually saw her. In practice, this means that <strong data-start=\"2320\" data-end=\"2375\">many foreigners have no idea that their residence has been revoked<\/strong>, a <strong data-start=\"2379\" data-end=\"2448\">they will only find out about it when they check in or try to leave<\/strong>.<\/p><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"2456\" data-end=\"2494\"><strong data-start=\"2460\" data-end=\"2494\">Risk with fictitious addresses<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2496\" data-end=\"2644\">Some applicants rely on the so-called. <strong data-start=\"2538\" data-end=\"2559\">\"proforma\" addresses<\/strong>offered to them for a fee by various <strong data-start=\"2596\" data-end=\"2630\">intermediaries or acquaintances<\/strong>. Often it is about:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2689\"><strong data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2686\">non-existent or abandoned addresses<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2689\"><strong data-start=\"2692\" data-end=\"2724\">addresses without the owner's consent<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"2648\" data-end=\"2689\"><strong data-start=\"2730\" data-end=\"2799\">addresses where the foreigner does not actually live and has no chance to collect mail.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2801\" data-end=\"2925\">After payment of the fee <strong data-start=\"2823\" data-end=\"2856\">the intermediary often disappears<\/strong> and the applicant is left without assistance. Consequently, he or she is put in a situation where:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"2929\" data-end=\"2955\"><strong data-start=\"2929\" data-end=\"2952\">his residence is revoked<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"2929\" data-end=\"2955\"><strong data-start=\"2958\" data-end=\"2991\">has a problem submitting a new application<\/strong>,<\/li><li data-start=\"2997\" data-end=\"3085\"><strong data-start=\"2997\" data-end=\"3085\">may even be banned from entering the territory of the Slovak Republic or the Schengen area.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"3092\" data-end=\"3115\"><strong data-start=\"3096\" data-end=\"3115\">How to protect yourself?<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3117\" data-end=\"3179\">To avoid these risks, <strong data-start=\"3149\" data-end=\"3178\">adhere to the following principles<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li data-start=\"3183\" data-end=\"3258\"><strong data-start=\"3183\" data-end=\"3258\">Check that the accommodation meets legal requirements and capacity limits.<\/strong><\/li><li data-start=\"3183\" data-end=\"3258\"><strong data-start=\"3261\" data-end=\"3318\">Secure written consent from the property owner.<\/strong><\/li><li data-start=\"3321\" data-end=\"3409\"><strong data-start=\"3321\" data-end=\"3409\">Make sure you have access to the mail at the address above and can realistically retrieve it.<\/strong><\/li><li data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3506\"><strong data-start=\"3412\" data-end=\"3506\">Avoid unverified intermediaries and illegal offers for a lower fee.<\/strong><\/li><li data-start=\"3509\" data-end=\"3591\"><strong data-start=\"3509\" data-end=\"3591\">If in doubt, contact a lawyer or the police directly.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><h3 class=\"\" data-start=\"3598\" data-end=\"3637\"><strong data-start=\"3602\" data-end=\"3637\">Reliable help for applicants<\/strong><\/h3><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3639\" data-end=\"4007\">If you are not sure whether <strong data-start=\"3662\" data-end=\"3702\">your address meets the legal requirements<\/strong>, <strong data-start=\"3704\" data-end=\"3730\">we can help you with this<\/strong>.
