Change of the booking system of the Aliens Police from 7 August 2025

On 07.08.2025, the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Republic published a press release stating that the activation of the BOK code can be done at any department of the Aliens Police, the Department of Documents at the Client Centre or at the relevant police station. However, it has subsequently been shown that this information was not true. Therefore, the Ministry of the Interior removed the original press release the very next day, 08.08.2025, and replaced it with a new version that does not contain this information.

It therefore remains the case that You can activate the BOK code exclusively at the local Aliens Police Department according to your registered residence.

Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic on 7 August 2025 has introduced significant changes in the system of booking appointments at the departments of the Foreign Police. The new system fundamentally changes the way in which foreigners can make appointments for residence-related tasks, while also introducing user authorisation by residence status. The system thus newly divides foreigners into authorised, i.e. persons who have already been granted a residence permit, and unauthorised, i.e. persons who have not yet been granted a residence permit, i.e. are not on the register - so-called first-time applicants.

❗Warning: Due to the change, large crowds are once again forming at the Aliens Police Departments to activate the BOK code, so we recommend that you consider visiting in the first few days after the change has been implemented.

Authorised foreigner - an foreigner with a granted residence permit

Foreigners who have already been granted temporary, permanent or temporary residence, must log in to the reservation system in an authorised manner:

• Logging in is done exclusively with an electronic proof of residence, a card reader and a BOK code (personal security code).
• BOK code is the 6-digit number chosen by the foreigner when collecting the document. In case of its loss or inactivation, the BOK can be renewed at locally competent department of the Aliens Police according to the registration of residence.

• Booking up to 60 days in advance.

❗Warning: Documents issued before 06/2021

Residence permit issued before June 2021 they do not contain the correct uploaded certificates for full electronic submission of the application for residence. Although the police can upload certificates on such documents, these are functional only for the services of the Financial Administration of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic (e.g. eData, eCash) - but not for the services of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic.

Unauthorised foreigner - foreigner as first applicant

A foreigner who has not yet been granted residence in the Slovak Republic, i.e. first-time applicants and cross-border users of e-services, are considered to be unauthorised user, the reservation is created in the current way without the need for authorisation via a document.

• Reservations are made without an electronic receipt.
• 40 days advance booking possible.

To make a reservation, as standard, you need to enter: 

• first and last name,
• date of birth,
• travel document number,
• phone number,
• email address.

Recommendation for foreigners

1. Check the date of issue of your residence permit - if the document was issued before June 2021, electronic submission of a renewal application is not possible, but appointment booking remains available.

2. Activate your BOK- if you have not already done so.

3. Make sure you have a document reader- without which you will not be able to log in to the system.

4. Plan your reservation well in advance- as the availability of dates is limited and the system may be overloaded again.
