The Bratislava Aliens Police Department (OCP PZ BA), which has long been the busiest workplace of its kind in Slovakia, is undergoing a historic change. After years of operation in the industrial outskirts of Vajnory on Regrútská Street, the gates of this workplace will be permanently closed. In the period May and June 2026 the entire administration and executive departments are moving to a new address.

This change will affect thousands of foreigners, employers and relocation agencies. In the following article, we bring you a detailed overview of why the move is happening, where exactly you will find your new address, and what it will mean for the process of processing your documents.

Why are the foreign police moving out?

The main impetus for this massive logistical operation is a strategic state project. The construction of a new national hospital is planned in the Vajnory area, where the police are currently based. The Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, led by spokesman Matej Neumann, confirmed that the release of premises on Regrútská Street is a necessary step towards the start of construction work on this medical facility.

Although the Ministry of the Interior searched for suitable premises for many months and also considered its own capacities, it ultimately decided to rent the building for Račianska Street 75, 831 02 Bratislava in the Nové Mesto district of the city. This building was evaluated as the most suitable in terms of capacity, safety and accessibility to the public.

New address: Račianska Street in Bratislava

The move to Račianska Street brings a radical change in accessibility. While Vajnory was difficult to reach for many clients without a car, the new headquarters is located in a location with direct connections to the city's key infrastructure.

Main advantages of the new location:

Transport accessibility: The building is located near important tram lines, which will greatly facilitate access for foreigners who rely on public transport.

Service concentration: At the new address, you will not only deal with your residency agenda. Several key offices will be located here under one roof:

Department of Alien Police of the Bratislava Police Station.
Directorate of Border and Alien Police Bratislava.
Mobile unit of the Police Force.

This "one-stop-shop" model aims to streamline communication between individual state agencies and speed up processes that have so far been hampered by the movement of documents between different parts of the city.

Parking and Infrastructure: What to Expect?

One of the biggest challenges of the old workplace was parking and the undignified waiting around the building. The new headquarters on Račianská Street comes with the promise of a better standard. Up to 135 parking spaces should be available for clients.

However, the Nové Mesto municipal district points out that the location falls under a regulated parking system. PAAS (NM2 zone). For visitors, this means that parking will be charged, but at the same time, the regulation should make it easier to find a free space. For residents of nearby apartment buildings, it is a guarantee that police clients will not block their residential spaces during the evening and night hours.

How will customer service work?

The Aliens Police in Bratislava handles daily an average of 500 clients. To avoid the chaos that many remember from the past, the new workplace will strictly adhere to electronic ordering system.

If you are planning a visit in May or June 2026, we recommend checking the availability of dates in the reservation system well in advance. There may be a temporary limitation on the number of people processed during the move.

The police leadership assures that sufficient waiting room capacity will be created in the new premises so that clients do not have to wait outside on the street. The modernization of the interior should contribute not only to the comfort of foreigners, but also to better working conditions for police officers and officials, which should be reflected in the speed of processing applications.

Public reactions and safety

The move has caused mixed feelings among local residents of Nové Mesto. There are concerns about the disruption of public order and increased traffic. However, after negotiations with the police, the city district has assured citizens that an increased number of patrols will monitor safety in the area. The fact that the police work on orders should eliminate the uncontrolled movement of large groups of people around the building.

For foreigners living in Bratislava, this news is clearly positive. A modern service center in the wider city center is a step towards integration and improving Slovakia's image in the eyes of foreign talents and investors.

If you are applying for residency, renewing your documents, or reporting changes in 2026, keep these three points in mind:

Follow the address: From June 2026, don't go to Vajnře, but to Račianska Street.
Book an appointment: Without online booking, fitting out your new workplace will be virtually impossible.
Count with a margin: The migration period (May/June) may bring technical system outages.
