The Kingdom of Thailand is located in Southeast Asia. It is a popular Asian destination that can offer everything one can think of. Thailand lies in a tropical region and the temperatures here are very pleasant all year round. The highest mountain is Doi Ithanon and its height is almost equal to our Lomnicky Peak. The Thai people have three things in common: they believe in Buddha, they love their king and they are great businessmen. Buddhist monks are an inseparable part of it. Every morning they go out into the streets and collect food for the monastery. The rest of their time is devoted to prayer and meditation.
Among the top locations of Thailand are:
Phuket - wild, bustling, full of fun but also beautiful nature. It is the largest island in Thailand. There are more than 30 beautiful beaches. Interesting here is a 29-meter statue of Buddha, which is located in the Buddhist temple Wat Lipon.
Sukhothai - a magnificent historical park that reveals up to 193 ruins. In the past an important capital of Thailand. The Thai alphabet was born and coins were minted here. To this day, there are still beautiful temples here that stand out for their unmistakable architecture.
Bangkok - the capital of Thailand, which is also called the City of Angels. Its history began to be written more than 200 years ago. Today, it is home to over 8 million residents and is packed with a bustling atmosphere. There are 500 temples, 200 mosques and 88 churches.
Slovak citizens are exempt from the visa requirement to stay in Thailand for up to 30 days if entering through an international airport and up to 15 days if entering through a land border crossing from a neighbouring country.
The following documents are required to enter and stay in the country:
If citizens of the Slovak Republic intend to work or stay in Thailand longer than the permitted period of stay, they must apply for the appropriate visa (depending on the purpose or intention of their stay) before entering Thailand. The work visa is valid for 1 year and allows the holder to obtain a work permit, open a bank account and apply for an extension.
If you are studying or working, you will need a traditional visa. All documents and certificates will be prepared by the school or employer. A certificate of studies or a work contract is required.
Citizens of the Slovak Republic may enter Thailand without a visa through a land border crossing only twice during a calendar year.
You must apply for an e-visa at least one month before your trip. Visa approval usually takes 3-10 days depending on the completeness of the documents. However, approval can sometimes take longer.
Visa fees:
A tourist visa is granted to the applicant for a maximum of 90 days for the purpose of tourism.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic will decide on the granting of a visa within 15 days.
You can also use this type of visa on the territory of other EU member states. But not automatic.
Since this visa is for the purpose of tourism or visiting, the entire granting process is simplified and procedurally fast.
For travelers, the least restrictive visas are those that can be obtained directly upon entering the country - that is, at the border crossing or after landing at the airport. Such visas usually have no conditions.
Sometimes their issuance is subject to the payment of an administrative fee. These visas can be considered more like "entrance fees" or an additional source of income for local governments.
In the case of visas, which need to be arranged in advance at the relevant embassy, this is an incomparably more difficult matter. An applicant for a visa must visit the diplomatic mission of the relevant state in person or through an authorized representative, where he/she will apply for a visa. Since not all countries have their embassies in every country in the world, applicants often have to travel to neighboring countries for the sake of visas, or countries where a given country has a competent authority authorized to issue visas. Various conditions are often associated with obtaining a visa before entering the country.
Tourist visas usually require the presentation of a purchased travel ticket or accommodation reservation, or proof of sufficient financial security for the stay. A frequent requirement of a visa application is the so-called "invitation letter" (also "voucher"), which is a kind of justification for the trip and is issued by a local hotel, or a local tourist agency or host family. Tourist visas are issued for a limited period of time, usually up to 30 days. Tourist visas can entitle the holder to one or more entries/exits. Accordingly, we distinguish:
