Level of recommendation: level 3 - Level of recommendation: level 3 - Recommendation not to travel to Pakistan

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic recommends Slovak citizens not to travel to Pakistan due to deterioration of the security situation due to the extremely turbulent and tense internal political situation in the country, in which the violent clashes between armed forces and protesters.

In particular, it draws the attention of Slovak citizens to the continuing increased security risk terrorist attacks and kidnappings for foreigners in major cities, especially Karachi (also high crime rate), FATA, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces. Counter-terrorist operations and clashes between the Pakistani army and Taliban fighters are taking place in these areas, and the Taliban are constantly threatening foreigners that they will be targeted in retaliatory attacks if they do not leave Pakistan.

The provinces of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan face regular monsoons in the summer months, causing flooding. Record rainfall in the summer of 2022 caused floods that destroyed virtually all infrastructure, including health facilities, in those provinces.

In case of emergency citizens of the Slovak Republic may contact the emergency mobile phone number of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tehran: +98 912 384 8971 or the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic: +421 2 5978 5978.

At the same time, we recommend that Slovak citizens, when travelling abroad, use a voluntary registration service on the Ministry's website or via the Svetobežka mobile app.

All travel advisories are listed on the Ministry's website, as well as on the websites of embassies in the section Travel/Notices and warnings before travel
