Change of fees – Health insurance for foreigners

Dear clients,

We would like to inform you about the change in the scale of administrative fees of the Ministry of the Interior in the field of residence permits and visa applications effective from 01.04.2024 according to Act No. 145/1995 Coll. on administrative fees. As of today, applicants for residence permits will pay extra for the receipt of the application for residence or the issuance of a document and other acts. The fees can still be paid directly to the Aliens Police, in cash or by card, when the application is submitted. You can also purchase stamps via the E-Kolok web portal (ekolky.gov.sk) or directly at the post office.

Item 23

(a) Issuance of a passport or travel document of a foreigner to a person over 16 years of age .....	50 euros
(b) Issuance of a passport or travel document of a foreigner to a person aged between 6 and 16 years .....	20 euros
(c) Issuance of a passport or travel document of a foreigner to a person under 6 years of age .....	12 euros
(d) Issuance of a passport or an alien's travel document valid for 1 year to a person over 16 years of age .....	45 euros
e) Issuing a passport or alien's travel document valid for 1 year to a person under 16 years of age .....	12 euros
f) Extension of the validity of the alien's travel document .....	4 euros
Power of attorney 1. The administrative authority shall levy a fee under this item at the rate of twice the relevant rate for the first loss, theft or damage of a travel document during its validity, at the rate of five times the relevant rate for the second loss, theft or damage of a travel document during its validity repeatedly within two consecutive years, and at the rate of ten times the relevant rate for the third loss, theft or damage of a travel document during its validity repeatedly within two consecutive years; the increased administrative charge shall not be levied if, on the date of application, the period of validity of the lost or stolen travel document would have expired pursuant to Article 22(1)(a) of Regulation (EC) No .../.../... a) of Act No 647/2007 Coll. on travel documents and on amendment and supplementation of certain acts. The administrative authority shall not levy an increased administrative fee for the theft of a travel document if the travel document has been taken by force by another person and this fact has been reported to the competent Police Service. 2. The administrative authority shall levy the fee under this item at the basic rate if it issues a travel document at the request of a citizen on humanitarian grounds. 3. The administrative authority shall, at the express request of the taxpayer, levy a fee under this item for the expedited issue of a travel document in the amount of three times the relevant rate within two working days and in the amount of two times the relevant rate within ten working days. 4. The administrative authority shall levy a fee under this item at half the relevant rate if it issues a new travel document to replace a valid travel document when entering the information on severe disability.
Liberation 1. Persons to whom a travel document is issued as a replacement for a valid travel document in the event of a change not caused by the citizen, or where an error has been detected in the travel document caused by the manufacturer of the travel document or by the authority which issued the travel document, shall be exempt from the fee referred to in points (a) to (e) of this item. 2. Persons to whom a new travel document is issued as a replacement for a valid travel document when their legal capacity is restricted or deprived of legal capacity shall be exempt from the fee referred to in points (a) to (d) of this item.

Liberation
1. Persons applying for family reunification with an asylum seeker or an alien who has been granted subsidiary protection shall be exempt from the fees referred to in points (a) and (d) of this item.
2. Persons who are teaching staff or university teachers shall be exempt from the fees under (a), (b), (d), (e) of this item.
3. Persons under the age of 18 years shall be exempt from the fees referred to in points (a), (c), (d), (i) and (j) of this item.
4. Trainees who receive a scholarship from the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic or a scholarship resulting from international treaty obligations, as well as foreign language lecturers coming to schools in the Slovak Republic on the basis of international treaty obligations, are exempt from the fees under (a) and (d) of this item on the basis of reciprocity.
5. Persons pursuant to Section 43(1)(a) of Act No 404/2011 Coll. are exempted from the fee pursuant to point (c) of this item.
6. Persons are exempt from the fee under point (f) of the first subparagraph of this item who
(a) apply for a new residence document if the entries therein do not correspond to reality for a reason beyond the applicant's control, for example, when the name of a municipality, street or its numbering has changed,
(b) they are applying for the first time for a residence permit as an alien who has been granted asylum or as an alien who has been granted subsidiary protection.
7. Persons applying for a tolerated stay pursuant to Section 58(1)(a) and (c) and (2) of Act No 404/2011 Coll. are exempted from the fees under points (i) and (j) of this item.
8. Persons who have been granted tolerated stay pursuant to Section 58(1)(c) and (2) of Act No 404/2011 Coll. are exempted from the fee pursuant to point (l) of this item.
9. The fees referred to in points (l) to (n) of this item shall be exempt from
(a) Persons who have been granted tolerated stay pursuant to Section 58(1)(a) or who remain in the territory of the Slovak Republic pursuant to Section 61a(1)(a) of Act No. 404/2011 Coll,
(b) persons to whom an alien's passport is to be issued pursuant to Section 74(2)(b) and (c) of Act No 404/2011 Coll,
c) persons who have been granted subsidiary protection pursuant to Act No. 480/2002 Coll. on Asylum and on Amendments and Additions to Certain Acts, as amended.
Power of attorney
The administrative authority may waive or reduce the fee under this item on humanitarian or reciprocity grounds.

Item 26

(a) Granting the visa at the border crossing point	90 euros
b) extension of a short-stay visa in the territory of the Slovak Republic	45 euros
Liberation 1. Foreign nationals are exempted from the fee under (a) of this item pursuant to a special regulation.^16b)
2. Family members of Union citizens are exempt from the fee under this heading.^16c)
3. Family members of citizens of the Slovak Republic are exempt from the fee under this item to the extent of family members of Union citizens under the second point.
4. Foreigners who come to the Slovak Republic at the invitation or with the consent of the National Council of the Slovak Republic, the President of the Slovak Republic and the Government of the Slovak Republic shall be exempt from the fee under point a) of this item.
5. The fee under point (b) of this item is waived for aliens who have applied for an extension of a short-stay visa on the grounds of a natural disaster or on humanitarian grounds.
Power of attorney The administrative authority may reduce or waive the fee in justified cases for reasons of general interest or on humanitarian grounds; it may increase or decrease the fee on grounds of reciprocity.

Item 27

Application for verification of the invitation for a foreigner to travel to the Slovak Republic, for each foreigner listed in the application for verification of the invitation .......	50 euros
Note The administrative authority shall not levy a fee under this heading for inviting a person under the age of sixteen.
Liberation Persons who invite a third-country national to the territory of the Slovak Republic to carry out an activity resulting from programmes of the Government of the Slovak Republic or from programmes of the European Union or to fulfil an obligation of the Slovak Republic resulting from an international treaty are exempt from the fee under this item.
