Citizens of the Slovak Republic can travel to Canada on the ETA visa waiver program for trips of less than 6 months. The reason for the visit must not be other than tourist or business travel or to transit through Canada.

  • The ETA is valid for 5 years, with a maximum stay of 6 months per entry (you will only be given the exact date by which you need to leave the country at immigration control after you enter the country).
  • It is recommended to process the ETA document before purchasing the ticket, the ETA document authorization should be sent to the specified email address, however, the authorization can take up to 72 hours. If there are any problems with the ETA document, the authorities will deal with the problem after 72 hours and reserve another 72 hours to respond.
  • The decision to authorise the ETA document will come by email.
  • The ETA document is automatically linked to the passenger's passport number

 

Slovak citizens can travel to Canada without a short-stay visa.
The residence permit is usually valid for 6 months from the date on the entry stamp.
However, in certain circumstances, the immigration officer at the point of entry into Canada may shorten or extend the length of lawful residence

 

In Canada, visitors arriving by plane the obligation of so-called pre-travel electronic authorisation (Electronic Travel Authorization - eTA).

This is also mandatory for air transits through Canada. The eTA authorization is not mandatory for visitors arriving in Canada by car, boat or train. The fee for an eTA authorization is CAD 7 and valid for 5 years (or until the validity of the passport listed on the eTA form).

 

To complete the eTA form you need: 

  • valid passport
  • credit card
  • e-mail address

For airline tickets, Canada strongly recommends obtaining an eTA authorization prior to purchase.

The validity of the passport exceeded the expected length of stay in Canada.

At the time of arrival in Canada, the alien should be able to prove access to sufficient funding for the entire duration of your stay, including the return ticket, otherwise you may be refused entry.

Citizens of the Slovak Republic travelling to Canada are advised to have travel medical insurance for the entire duration of their stay in case of necessary medical treatment, which in most cases must be paid for in advance.

When entering Canadian territory, a tourist must have a completed customs declaration (the form will be given on board the aircraft or filled in at the electronic kiosk at the airport). The immigration officer may ask for a short interview or ask to check your luggage.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic will decide on the granting of a visa within 15 days.

You can also use this type of visa on the territory of other EU member states. But not automatic.
