Level of recommendation: level 3 - Not recommended to travel to Iran

In the context of the current deteriorating security situation in the Middle East caused by the escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian military conflict and its potential impact on the wider region we do not recommend making any trips to Iran.

Citizens of the Slovak Republic who are currently in Iran we recommend that you consider the need to remain in the country.

We continue to draw your attention to the possibility of demonstrations across the country in connection with the poor socio-economic situation, whether possible risk of arrest of EU nationals by the Iranian security forces.

In the country there are marches in support of Palestine and other demonstrations, and rallies of the people. Citizens of the Slovak Republic we recommend avoiding such places.

Citizens of the Slovak Republic who are in Iran are strongly warned, not to photograph military installations, or any other critical infrastructure. For photographing strategically important objects foreigners in Iran face espionage charges.

In general, it is necessary observe basic rules of personal safety, avoid conflict situations and respect local customs and cultural and religious traditions.

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic recommends to the citizens of the Slovak Republic take into account the deteriorating security situation and the fragile internal political and economic situation in the country and respect the advice not to travel to Iran.

In case of emergency citizens of the Slovak Republic may contact the emergency mobile phone number of the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Tehran: +98 912 384 8971 or the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic: +421 2 5978 5978.

At the same time, we recommend that Slovak citizens, when travelling abroad, use a voluntary registration service on the Ministry's website or via the Svetobežka mobile app.

All travel recommendations are listed on the Ministry's websiteas well as on the Embassies' websites under Travel/Travel warnings and pre-travel notices
